The Objectives and Activities of the Museum
Information and Education
The objective is to make the information on the construction and the history of the Charles Bridge available to the lay as well as the expert public. It is also to make this information available not only to Prague public but also to Czech and foreign ones visiting the capital city of Prague. And it is to run an information centre.
Documentation
The objective is to collect all available and well known information on the Charles Bridge and its close surroundings and make it available in media readily available to public (internet, CDs, DVDs, printed media.)
Collecting and Archiving
The collection will focus on searching for and collecting of all historical artifacts and works of art connected with the existence and history of the Charles Bridge, the Royal Mile, Old Town Prague and the Vltava River.
Publishing
Through the mediation of the Science Board, the objective is to publish up-to-date information relating to the Charles Bridge Monument, i.e. publishing.
Guiding Tours
Operating the information and guiding centre. Providing assistance to disabled visitors – no entrance fee for the handicapped (sign language interpreters, Braille and tactile signs for the blind and visually impaired.) Education programmes for school children (for visitors from kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.)
Social events
Running a literary and music café, staging one-off events and returning ones, holding seminars and press conferences, instructional courses, interactive outdoor programmes and exhibitions.
Sale
Sale and production of souvenirs of exclusively Czech origin having to do with the Charles Bridge, on the premises of the Museum’s Gallery (publication, postcards, advertisement items.)
